Are you a passionate and experienced RVN ready to take the next step in your career? A dynamic and fulfilling role awaits as a Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse in a leading small animal practice in South Wales. This is your chance to join a supportive and friendly team dedicated to clinical excellence and high welfare standards.
As a Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse, you will be at the heart of the practice, working closely with veterinary surgeons and the management team to ensure the smooth running of daily nursing activities. Your leadership skills will be crucial in mentoring and supporting the nursing team, fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture. You will also have the opportunity to maintain and develop your own clinical skills by remaining actively involved in nursing duties.
In this role, you will assist in overseeing daily nursing activities, ensuring that clinical standards remain consistently high. You will play a key role in maintaining practice policies and protocols in line with RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) requirements, supporting the training and development of student nurses and the wider team. Your responsibilities will also include promoting excellent patient care, managing stock control, equipment maintenance, and clinical audits. As a key point of contact within the clinical team, you will help resolve team issues constructively and professionally, promoting a positive team environment focused on collaboration and continuous learning.
The team has a wide range of clinical interests and encourages RVNs to utilise their full skill set. The hospital holds RCVS Hospital Status and ISFM Gold Cat Friendly accreditation and is a veterinary nurse training practice with several certificate holders across both the veterinary and nursing teams. The practice prides itself on being inclusive, friendly, and supportive, with no commercial targets imposed on employees.
The role offers a competitive salary of £30,000 - £33,000 DOE based on a 4-day week and rotational weekend work. Additional benefits include 6 weeks paid holiday including bank holidays, CPD allowance and time off to attend, fees paid, healthcare, and much more.
If you are ready to lead, inspire, and make a significant impact in a practice that values teamwork, wellbeing, and clinical excellence, apply today.
