Nestled in the picturesque market town in the Lake District, lies a veterinary practice with nearly 120 years of history.
This independent, RCVS Accredited mixed practice is seeking a dedicated veterinary surgeon to join their team. With easy motorway access to five international airports, the location offers both convenience and the charm of rural life.
This role is perfect for a veterinary surgeon with a minimum of 1+ years of clinical experience and a passion for general practice. The position is predominantly farm-focused, with approximately 80% of the work involving farm animals and 20% small animals, primarily on-call and weekends. The practice's farm clientele is progressive and located within a compact 10-mile radius, ensuring a manageable and rewarding workload.
The practice is committed to professional development, offering fully funded support for postgraduate qualifications and continuous education. With a four-day working week and a 2-in-5 out-of-hours rota, the work-life balance is exceptional. Weekend on-call duties are shared between two vets, ensuring support and manageable workloads, even during busy periods like lambing season.
The practice is equipped with modern facilities, including ultrasound, digital x-ray, and bull breeding soundness equipment. The team values clinical freedom and encourages vets to pursue their clinical interests, with ample scope for career progression and also to grow the small animal side further.
The role offers a competitive salary ranging from £35,000 to £60,000 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include RCVS and VDS membership, a generous CPD budget tailored to your interests, a mobile phone, and a fully equipped work vehicle.
The practice also provides a long weekend off every five weeks, ensuring ample time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Assistance with relocation is available.
Responsibilities include conducting thorough examinations, performing surgical procedures, developing tailored treatment plans, maintaining accurate medical records, and communicating effectively with pet owners. Collaboration with veterinary technicians and support staff is essential to ensure efficient clinic operations.
If you are a veterinary surgeon with vision and enthusiasm, ready to make this role your own, this position offers a unique blend of professional fulfilment and work-life balance in a stunning location. Apply now to join a team that values your expertise and supports your career growth.
