A brand-new veterinary surgery in South West London is on the lookout for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to lead and build the nursing team from the ground up. This is a unique chance to shape the nursing framework of a practice, rather than just fitting into an existing structure.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence standards and create a team where skills are fully utilised and genuinely valued. As the Head Nurse, you will oversee the nursing function within the surgery, ensuring high standards of clinical care, smooth day-to-day operations, and fostering a positive, collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities include leading, supporting, and developing the nursing team, ensuring excellent patient care and client experience, overseeing nurse clinics, inpatient care, and theatre standards, driving the utilisation of nursing skills including Schedule 3 procedures, supporting student nurses and clinical coaching, and helping to shape the culture and ways of working within the practice. This is a leadership role with real influence, both clinically and operationally.

The working pattern is full-time with evenings and weekends on a 4 x 9-hour day rota and a 1 in 4 weekend rotation, averaging a 39-hour working week. Nurse care nights are included, with accommodation provided when required, and flexible working options are considered.

Great nursing teams deserve to be recognised, supported, and rewarded. This role offers a monthly nurse recognition scheme, CPD support and development opportunities, funded professional fees, income protection, and a focus on work-life balance and wellbeing. Benefits include 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, compassionate leave, free parking, wellbeing support and much more.

This role is perfect for a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse who takes pride in delivering excellent patient care, enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team, communicates confidently and compassionately, wants to fully utilise and develop their nursing skills, and is positive, proactive, and adaptable.

The modern, spacious surgeries are designed to create a calm environment for pets and a positive, collaborative space for teams. The group invests in its people, supports development, and creates workplaces where colleagues genuinely enjoy coming to work.

If you’re looking for a role where your voice is heard, your skills are valued, and you can help shape a brand-new practice, this is the perfect fit. Apply now to be part of something from the very beginning.
