A brand-new veterinary surgery is opening in West London, and the search is on for a Head Vet to lead it from day one. This is a unique chance to take full clinical ownership of a new practice, build your own team, and shape how care is delivered from the ground up.

Unlike most leadership roles where you step into something already established, this position allows you to create it. Imagine leading a modern, purpose-built surgery, fully equipped with the latest technology. You’ll have the opportunity to influence clinical standards, team culture, and the overall direction of the practice. As Head Vet, you'll be at the forefront of delivering excellence in both patient care and team performance.

In this role, you will lead and inspire your clinical team, set and uphold high standards of clinical governance, deliver outstanding first-opinion medicine and surgery, support and develop your colleagues, build strong relationships with clients and the local community, and play a key role in shaping the culture and success of the practice. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines clinical work with real influence and responsibility.

The ideal candidate is a confident, experienced Vet with strong all-round GP experience. You should enjoy leading, mentoring, and developing others, be passionate about high-quality patient care, communicate clearly and build trust with clients and teams, and have a desire to take ownership of a practice and make it your own.

The working pattern includes four days per week with 9-hour shifts, one in four weekends, averaging 39 hours per week, with dedicated admin time built into every shift.

Great people build great practices, so investment is a priority. Benefits include quarterly recognition payments, CPD allowance and funded memberships, internal leadership training and career progression, income protection, and an electric car scheme. Work-life balance and wellbeing are also prioritised with 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, wellbeing support, and compassionate leave.

If you care deeply about patient outcomes and customer experience, enjoy working collaboratively and supporting others, communicate clearly and empathetically, are organised, proactive, and calm under pressure, and want to be part of building something new, this role is for you.

Ready to be part of something from day one? If you’re looking for more than just a job and want to help shape a surgery from the very beginning, this is the perfect role for you.
