Head Veterinary Nurse - be part of a friendly and supportive team

Our client are seeking a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse (Head RVN) to become an integral part of a friendly and supportive team dedicated to exceptional patient care. This role offers the chance to lead and inspire a talented nursing team, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the practice alongside the directors and practice manager.

As the Head RVN, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the nursing team, ensuring outstanding patient care and clinical efficiency. Your leadership will foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive working environment, where team development and high clinical standards are paramount. You will be instrumental in developing protocols, training initiatives, and quality improvement projects, making a tangible impact on the practice.

To excel in this role, you must be a qualified veterinary nurse registered with the RCVS, with at least three years of post-qualification experience. Proven experience in a veterinary leadership or supervisory role is essential, as are strong organisational, communication, and people management skills. You should be confident in all aspects of clinical nursing, anaesthesia, and patient care, with a passion for mentoring and developing others.

The team includes four vets, three RVNs, one SVN, and three receptionists. The practice values staff wellbeing and focuses on realistic workload management, approachable leadership, and fostering a supportive environment. The team handles a varied caseload of medical and surgical cases, always striving to develop their standard of care through a collaborative approach.

The role offers a competitive salary of £34,000-£37,000 per year, a four-day working week with one in four Saturday mornings, five weeks of annual leave plus bank holidays, and flexible CPD funding. Additionally, RCVS and VDS fees are covered, staff pets receive discounts, and social events are organised throughout the year, with lunch provided for the team each Friday.
