Poultry Veterinary Surgeon - New Graduates welcome!

Are you an experienced Poultry Vet, a seasoned Small Animal/Farm Vet seeking a fresh challenge, or a New Grad ready to embark on your professional journey? One of the largest dedicated commercial poultry and game bird practices in the UK, is looking for passionate individuals to join our team.

This full-time, permanent position is based in Herefordshire. Working hours are 08.30 – 17.00 Monday to Friday, with 1:4 weekends on call after training. The role offers an excellent work-life balance compared to other veterinary disciplines and provides rapid career progression for those seeking more responsibility within the practice.

Your duties will include diagnostics via postmortems, farm visits, and laboratory work; routine visits for veterinary health and welfare plans; surveillance visits for disease outbreaks such as Avian Influenza; occasional export certification; data analysis and epidemiology; and developing relationships with clients to optimise health and welfare.

We are a large, friendly, and supportive team with experienced vets holding a range of post-graduate qualifications. Career development is a priority, and CPD is actively encouraged, including at least one international CPD per year. We support applicants wishing to undertake further qualifications.

Ideal candidates are experienced poultry vets or small animal/farm vets with post-graduate experience, as many skills are transferable to poultry. Specific poultry medicine training will be provided. New or recent graduates are also welcome, with full support offered through an internship and a dedicated VetGDP advisor.

We seek individuals with excellent interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, resilience, problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail, empathy, communication skills, confidence, decisiveness, enthusiasm, and an interest in poultry medicine and production.

The team includes two experienced vets, a practice manager, a senior administrator, and a vet tech. We work collaboratively and hold monthly clinical clubs.
