Night Veterinary Surgeon - 7 on and 14 off

Are you an experienced Emergency and Out of Hours Clinician seeking a genuinely exciting new role? 

An innovative veterinary service is launching a brand-new out-of-hours and emergency veterinary service, designed from the ground up to deliver exceptional patient care and create a workplace where veterinarians truly enjoy working in an emergency environment. Located in Tyne and Wear, this role offers a competitive salary of up to £80,000, subject to experience and qualifications.

Imagine working in a state-of-the-art clinical setting equipped with MRI, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy (dedicated theatre), separate wards, an in-house laboratory, operating microscope, advanced anaesthesia equipment, ventilators, and a comprehensive range of diagnostic and surgical tools. This will be further enhanced by a new ICU/high-dependency unit, ensuring gold-standard support for emergency cases and exceptional care for complex and critically ill patients.

As an ECC Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll be at the frontline of emergency care, managing a varied and rewarding caseload that includes acute medical emergencies, trauma cases, critical care stabilisation, and overnight inpatient management. You’ll work in a well-equipped, purpose-designed environment with access to modern diagnostics and a team that understands the demands of ECC work.

Ideal candidates will be MRCVS qualified and eligible to work in the UK, with a minimum of two years’ experience in primary care practice. Previous experience in Emergency & Critical Care and/or ICU is highly desirable. Candidates should be confident in sole charge and decision-making, thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment, and be passionate about high standards of patient care.

In return, the role offers a competitive salary dependent on experience, a flexible OOH rolling rota (7 nights on with 14 nights off, 13-hour shifts), a supportive and collaborative working environment, 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays) plus an additional day off for your birthday, dedicated training and support in ECC, CT, and MRI, a generous CPD allowance with access to in-house training and development, a staff discount scheme, a cycle to work scheme, and RCVS and VDS fees paid.
