The hiring business is expanding and introducing a new Emergency Service – a pioneering out-of-hours and emergency service designed to deliver exceptional patient care while fostering a workplace where nurses genuinely enjoy working during these critical hours. As an Out Of Hours & Emergency Critical Care Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering emergency and critical care, working closely with veterinary surgeons to manage a diverse and complex caseload. Your duties will include nursing critically ill patients, emergency triage, admissions, patient support, involvement in emergency surgeries, and advanced anaesthesia and peri-operative support. This hands-on role will fully utilise your advanced nursing skills.

You will be working in an advanced clinical setting, equipped with MRI, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, fluoroscopy (dedicated theatre), separate medical and surgical wards, an in-house laboratory, advanced anaesthesia equipment, and ventilators. The new ICU/high-dependency unit will further enhance the ability to care for complex and critically ill patients, with nursing care at the heart of operations.

To be considered, you must be RCVS registered and eligible to work in the UK, with a minimum of two years’ experience in practice.

Proven experience in Emergency; Critical Care and/or ICU is essential, and previous out-of-hours experience is advantageous. Strong clinical skills, excellent communication, teamwork abilities, and a proactive approach to learning and professional development are also required.

In return, the employer offers 6.6 weeks of annual leave (including bank holidays) plus an additional day off for your birthday, dedicated training and support in ECC, a generous CPD allowance with access to in-house training and development, a supportive and collaborative working environment, a staff discount scheme, a cycle-to-work scheme, and paid RCVS and VDS fees. The salary starts at £34,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
