Are you seeking a role that offers variety while fitting around your commitments? An exciting position awaits an RCVS-registered Small Animal Vet to join a thriving, friendly team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role promises a balanced workload without out-of-hours commitments or sole charge responsibilities, making it perfect for those who value flexibility and work-life balance.
The organisation is a RCVS-accredited, two-site small animal practice, featuring a 24-hour A&E hospital in Greater Manchester. The caseload is diverse, fast-paced, and highly rewarding, offering excellent exposure to both routine and emergency cases. You will be supported by a fantastic, experienced team comprising 14 Vets (including several certificate holders), 20 RVNs, Student Nurses & Animal Care Assistants, and 13 dedicated support colleagues. The hospital is fully equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory, providing everything you need to deliver gold-standard patient care.
The role involves general veterinary duties, including consultations and inpatient/ward care, with the option to undertake occasional surgical days. Surgical work is entirely optional, making this equally suitable for candidates who prefer a consult-only focus. As part of a practice that provides out-of-hours services to local member clinics, you’ll have exposure to a diverse and engaging caseload—ideal for maintaining and developing your clinical expertise.
The working pattern is part-time, 20 hours per week, spread over two days (Wednesday and either Thursday or Friday). Shift patterns are flexible, including possible school hours for the right candidate. Additionally, there is a requirement for 1 weekend in 6, with shifts paid in addition to salary. The salary is up to £32,000 (£64,000 FTE) dependent on experience.
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon who has built good initial experience and confidence in routine consultations and pet well-being. If interested in joining the surgical rota, candidates must be confident in routine surgical procedures. Excellent communication skills, empathy, compassion, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
A fantastic range of benefits is offered, including 6.6 weeks paid holiday (including bank holidays), a £1750 CPD Allowance per annum, a Health Cash Plan, RCVS Membership paid and two other membership subscriptions, VDS cover, discounted veterinary fees, offers, discounts, and cashback on shopping, travel, entertainment, and much more, CPD/training support, and company sick pay.
Join an Employer of the Year, recognised for outstanding team culture and support. This role offers an enriching experience in a supportive and dynamic environment.
