Are you a large animal veterinary surgeon looking for a fulfilling new role leading an experienced and welcoming team?  Then look no further, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Our clients are a mixed practice with roughly 70% small animal and 30% large animal caseload and are looking for an experienced farm or mixed animal vet to lead a team of 5 vets, supported daily by 1 large animal registered veterinary nurse and 2 support staff.  In taking on this role you will be joining a close-knit team who enjoy socialising both in and outside of work and are excited to welcome the newest member of their team.

With a varied caseload of spring calving beef, sheep and one dairy farm you will work closely with the clients, constantly looking for the best care and treatment options.  Having worked hard to establish a loyal and trusting client base, creating a flock club for their sheep clients and a beef club, the practice prides itself on close and effective relationships with their clients and within the team.  Applicants should therefore be passionate about creating and maintaining strong relationships with clients and always providing the highest possible standards of care.

This role is full time, permanent, working 4-day weeks (36 hours) with 1 in 5 out of hours.  There are no routine weekend consults and you will always have a nurse on call when doing out of hours and will always be off rota the following Friday.  There is some flexibility in this rota so do ask if you have any questions or specific commitments.

Applicants will ideally have a keen passion for farm work and be eager to guide and help develop an enthusiastic team.  You will be enthusiastic, friendly and have great communication skills, as well as having a progressive and proactive attitude and work ethic and be excited to be part of this thriving team.

The role will consist of supporting the clinical director day to day and leading your team of 5 large animal vets, helping support and guide them while also helping them develop and driving the business forward.  There is a well-established management team in place to provide you with the support you require and they encourage an open and honest approach to management to ensure the best for you, the team, clients and patients.

As part of a mixed practice, you will have access to excellent small animal facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound and full inhouse laboratory as well as the separate large animal facilities for small ruminant operations and hospitalisation and a standalone regenerative medicine and rehabilitation unit, which currently accepts referrals from all over Scotland.

Located just 45 minutes from Edinburgh and 1 hour from Newcastle this practice offers easy access to major motorways for travel throughout the UK and is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and the River Tweed.  This location offers all the perks of being just outside the city without the price tag and provides an incredible array the outdoor activities and sites right on your doorstep.
