Meet the team behind Loc8um

​

Alistair has been a practising vet for the last 28 years, owning independent practices in South London for 15 years and now Uxbridge. He has also done a wide variety of locum work himself, done ECC night work, taught in a Mexican University and been a senior manager for one of the large UK groups. One of the most frustrating things he found throughout was that he didn’t get access to some of the great Locums that he knew were out there and that the agencies he was dealing with had such a small bank of available vet and nurse locums. Having been told by Chris to stop complaining and do something about it, they set about the monumental task of using all that experience to design a system (Loc8um) that would solve those problems! When not working in his practice, Alistair enjoys travel including visiting his in-laws in Namibia, cycling, cooking and enjoying a glass or two of wine.

Chris was introduced to the veterinary world by Alistair. The two have been friends for years and Alistair would regularly speak about the difficulties he had finding and securing good, reliable locums for his practice on their regular Sunday bike rides. As a result they came up with the idea of Loc8um and decided to try and tackle the issue. Chris brings experience from outside the veterinary world and proudly claims coming up with the name Loc8um (lo-cate-um). Outside of work he enjoys cycling (when there’s time), holidays and spending time with his young family
