Are you an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with a passion for leadership? Do you thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment where patient care is at the heart of everything? My client is seeking an exceptional Head Nurse to provide clinical leadership, inspire the nursing team, and play an integral role in the day-to-day running of the practice.
Imagine working in a friendly, RCVS-accredited small animal practice, vibrant South West London. This practice is long standing and considered a cornerstone of the community, offering professional, friendly services to a lovely client base.
This permanent full-time role spans five days a week, with just one in four Saturday mornings from 9am to 1pm. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with no out-of-hours or on-call duties. As Head Nurse, you will lead a dedicated team of two RVNs, one SVN, and one VCA. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing clinical leadership and guidance with confidence and compassion
- Overseeing in-house training and ensuring continuous professional development
- Managing stock control and maintaining inventory
- Delivering exceptional patient and client care
- Conducting nurse consultations, in-patient care, anaesthetics, admits and discharges, and assisting vets in consultations
- Collaborating with the Practice Manager and Clinical Director to support practice operations
- Conducting regular team meetings and wellbeing checks
- Managing the nurse rota to ensure appropriate coverage
- Overseeing the daily diary and assisting with team management
- Supporting the Practice Manager with nurse and reception team absences and annual leave
- Organising team social events and fostering a positive team atmosphere
The ideal candidate will be a confident and compassionate RVN with strong leadership skills. A keen interest in mentoring and developing the team, especially our SVN and VCA, is essential. Excellent communication skills, both with the team and clients, are a must. The ability to be forward-thinking, adaptable, and manage various situations effectively will set you apart. Prior Head Nurse experience is ideal, but experienced RVNs ready to take the next step are also encouraged to apply. A commitment to providing the best possible care for patients and clients is paramount.
You will have the chance to shape the future of the nursing team while enjoying a supportive work environment. Career satisfaction is a priority, and ongoing professional development opportunities are provided.
