Are you an experienced and enthusiastic veterinary surgeon looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and dynamic environment? Imagine working in a location that offers a multitude of outdoor and leisure activities right on your doorstep, while being part of a practice that has been serving the local community for over a decade. Nestled in picturesque Essex, this location offers the best of both worlds with its proximity to stunning beaches, serene countryside, and an historic town centre offering many cultural and recreational activities. With direct transport links to London and other major cities, it's an ideal location for both work and leisure without the London price tag.

You will have clinical freedom within your caseload and a supportive environment with the close knit team. The practice collaborates closely with a visiting certificate holder in small animal surgery, including orthopaedics, allowing for a diverse and challenging caseload. Regular clinical meetings and in-house CPD sessions ensure that the team maintains a high standard of care, while regular social gatherings foster a strong sense of camaraderie.

The role involves handling a wide spectrum of first opinion cases, predominantly involving dogs and cats, with some small furries and exotics. Surgical cases include neutering, mass removals, dentistry, basic ophthalmic surgery, emergency surgeries such as pyometra and C-sections, and wound management. The practice is well-equipped with in-house laboratory capabilities, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and multiparameter monitoring.

Ideal candidates will be confident with routine medical and surgical cases and eager to progress in their careers. You will be actively encouraged to develop in areas that hold a particular interest, with support and funding available.

Flexible working patterns are available to accommodate the demands of modern life. Most vets work a 4-day week, with a 1:4 weekend rota and no out-of-hours work. Part-time job shares are also considered.

Benefits include an attractive salary (dependent on experience), a pension scheme, 224 hours of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing to 264 hours after two years, and the practice is closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Additional perks include staff discounts, a staff reward scheme, VDS/RCVS/BVA fees paid, and a CPD allowance.
