An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, family-owned, RCVS-accredited training practice in North Leeds.

With the perfect balance of city convenience and countryside living, this role offers the chance to progress a veterinary career within a supportive, close-knit team while enjoying an excellent quality of life.

This independent practice prides itself on delivering modern veterinary medicine underpinned by traditional values. With a loyal and welcoming client base and a genuinely friendly team culture, it is a place where vets are supported, valued, and encouraged to develop.

The Practice:

The team consists of 6 vets alongside experienced nurses and support staff, creating a collaborative and encouraging working environment. The practice is well equipped with:

-Flexible and rigid endoscopy
-Digital radiography
-Doppler ultrasonography
-A comprehensive range of surgical equipment

Many advanced cases, including dermatology, medicine, cardiology, and complex surgery (such as TTA, MPL, and BOAS)—are managed in-house. This allows excellent continuity of care for clients and provides an outstanding learning and progression pathway for vets.

CPD is fully funded and actively encouraged, and a GDP Adviser is in place to support and mentor new graduates.

The Role:

This position offers a varied caseload with a mixture of consultations and surgery at the main branch, alongside consult-only work at a nearby smaller branch. There is some sole charge responsibility during evenings and Saturday clinics, although this would not apply immediately for new graduate vets.

While previous experience is preferred, the practice values attitude, teamwork, and enthusiasm just as highly and welcomes applications from vets looking for the right long-term fit.

Working Pattern & Work–Life Balance:

-4.5-day working week
-1 in 5 Saturdays (9am–3pm, consults only)
-Extra half-day off on the Friday following a worked weekend
-No out-of-hours work

The rota is designed to support a healthy work–life balance, allowing time to enjoy the fantastic surroundings.

Salary & Benefits:

-£38,000 – £60,000, depending on experience
-22 days holiday plus bank holidays
-Generous salary with monthly bonus scheme
-RCVS and VDS fees paid
-Simply Health insurance and pension scheme
-CPD fully funded and encouraged
-Staff pets treated at cost price

The Location:

Situated on the northern edge of Leeds, the practice benefits from excellent access to city amenities while being just moments from the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale, both renowned for their stunning natural beauty.

The main branch is based in a busy suburban area with local shops, cafés, and supermarkets close by, while the second branch is located in a lively market town a short drive away. This combination offers an ideal lifestyle for those who enjoy both urban convenience and outdoor pursuits.
