Are you a veterinary surgeon who thrives on variety and enjoys working in different environments?

If so, the float veterinary surgeon role could be your perfect match. This position offers the unique chance to work across multiple locations in London and parts of Essex, providing you with a dynamic and enriching professional experience.

Imagine the flexibility of choosing to work 2, 3, 4, or even 5 days a week, tailored to your lifestyle. You’ll collaborate closely with locum coordinator teams to ensure your assignments are convenient and accessible. Whether you prefer the hustle and bustle of a central London clinic or the quieter pace of a suburban practice, this role has it all.

In this position, you will be fully supported by experienced regional managers and head vets, ensuring you have the clinical backing needed to excel. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of settings, from RCVS accredited hospitals with specialist teams to smaller, sole-charge clinics. This diversity not only enriches your professional skills but also keeps your daily work life exciting and varied.

Your responsibilities will include performing consultations, routine GP surgeries such as bitch spays and dentals, and supporting teams in full clinical capacity. The role includes a Saturday rotation and a manageable number of Sunday shifts throughout the year, allowing you to balance your professional commitments with personal time. Sundays and bank holidays will be worked at your nearest 24-hour hospital, ensuring convenience and continuity.

Why choose this role over locuming? Enjoy the security of a regular fixed monthly income, with the option to take on extra shifts if desired. Say goodbye to the hassle of filling in tax returns, worrying about IR35, or setting up a limited or umbrella company. Instead, focus on what you do best—providing exceptional veterinary care.

The salary band for this role ranges from £50,000 to £80,000 (FTE), depending on your experience, with ample room for growth. Personal development and progression are highly valued, and you’ll have access to a generous CPD budget of up to £2,000 annually, plus up to 5 days' paid CPD leave.

Additional benefits include 6.6 weeks of annual leave (pro rata for part-time), generous relocation assistance where applicable, and private medical healthcare insurance with Bupa. Join a team of dedicated, knowledgeable, and welcoming professionals who go the extra mile for their colleagues, patients, and clients.

If you’re ready to embrace a role that offers variety, flexibility, and professional growth, consider becoming a float veterinary surgeon.
