Equine Veterinary Internship - Commencing July 2026 and October 2026

Are you a dedicated and passionate veterinary graduate looking to enhance your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment?

This 12-month equine veterinary internship offers an enriching experience that will set the foundation for a successful career in private practice or further postgraduate training.

Based primarily in a well-equipped, RCVS accredited equine hospital, this role promises a diverse and engaging caseload. Interns will gain hands-on experience in lameness investigation, anaesthesia, reproductive work, diagnostic imaging, and the management of colic cases. This comprehensive exposure ensures that by the end of the internship, candidates will have developed a broad range of competencies essential for any aspiring equine veterinarian.

Interns will be integral to the in-patient care team, responsible for client communication, assisting with out-patient appointments, emergency admissions, and surgeries. While prior experience in equine anaesthesia is advantageous, the hospital provides a supportive environment where learning and development are encouraged. Interns will also have the opportunity to complete a case report or series, with the aim of publication in a peer-reviewed journal, receiving relevant support throughout the process.

This Veterinary Hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including MRI and stabling for at least 20 in-patients. The team comprises friendly and experienced vets and nurses, including a renowned specialist in equine surgery. The varied caseload ensures a rich learning environment, and prospective applicants are encouraged to spend a day at the hospital to gain insight into the practice before the selection process.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to providing the highest standard of care to patients and clients. Applicants must hold a veterinary degree, be members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and be fluent in English.

Accommodation is provided on-site, and the out-of-hours rota is 1:2, including phone duties. The salary is circa £23k per annum, with accommodation and associated costs deducted.
