My client are on the lookout for an experienced and dynamic Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join and guide a dedicated team in picturesque Hertfordshire. This role offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on a well-established practice, working with a small team of 2 Vets, RVNs, and CCAs.
This role provides an exceptional platform to shape and develop a team, supported by the Clinical Director and Senior Leadership team. The practice boasts a loyal client base and upholds excellent clinical standards, facilitated by an outstanding support team.
The facility is well-equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, three consultation rooms, and a dedicated operating theatre. Conveniently located just off the M25, the practice offers off-road parking for staff. Complex cases and out-of-hours support are managed are outsourced to the local hospital, where you will also spend time as part of the Sunday rota.
You:
- A strong leader who thrives on challenges and is eager to leave their mark on a thriving clinic.
- Previous experience as a Senior or Lead Vet.
- Proficient in routine surgical skills.
- A solid understanding of finances, line management, and business strategy.
- Desirable: GDP advisor or willingness to train as one, and the ability to issue animal health certificates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hours: Full time, 42 hours over a 4-day week (8.30-7.30), 1:3 Saturdays (8.30-4), and 1:12 Sundays at the local Hospital (8.30-6.30).
- Support and maintain the highest standards of clinical delivery.
- Utilise all team members' skills to maximise service provision.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure a cohesive approach.
- Lead recruitment, training, and mentoring of the veterinary team.
- Address and improve any performance issues with empathy.
- Work alongside the Clinical Director and nursing team to optimise the utilisation of veterinary surgeons and nurses.
