My client is seeking a dedicated Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon(Fixed term contract covering parental leave until October 2026) to join their team, providing vital care to patients outside of standard hours. About the role

The working schedule is designed to help you maintain career satisfaction and personal wellbeing, with a pattern of 7 nights on followed by 14 nights off, allowing ample time to recharge.

About the hospitals

The hospital is a high-quality primary care and mid-tier referral practice with eight clinics across South and West Yorkshire, including a 24/7 RCVS accredited Tier 3 Hospital. They provide a full range of primary care services, such as consultations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, routine and non-routine surgery, dentistry, and imaging. Advanced services include laparoscopy, endoscopy, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, echocardiography, and in-house CT. They also offer rehabilitation services with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and laser therapy.

The hospital is purpose-built, featuring an attractive building with ample client parking, a large waiting room with separate cat and dog areas, and a friendly, well-established team. The hospital includes air-conditioned consulting rooms, fully equipped theatres, high-quality ultrasound scanners, and a dental area with X-ray facilities.

About you

An ideal candidate is a confident individual comfortable working sole charge and performing emergency surgeries with care. You should be skilled at stabilising critically ill or injured animals, explaining diagnoses and treatment options to worried pet owners, and managing complex cases. Strong clinical decision-making abilities and a collaborative spirit are essential, as is the ability to remain calm under pressure.
