Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice • Flexible Hours • Stunning Chilterns Location

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving, modern practice in the Amersham area, part of a well-established, fully independent veterinary group that has been redefining what it means to work in practice for over fifteen years.

This forward-thinking, family-owned group combines the stability of a sizeable multi-site organisation with the personal touch, flexibility, and ethos of a true independent. Their focus is simple: invest in their people, invest in their facilities, and protect the work–life balance and clinical autonomy that enable vets to thrive. There are no corporate targets, no restrictive contracts, no hidden tie-ins, just a supportive environment built on respect, collaboration, and genuine care for both staff and clients.

With continuous investment across all sites, leading salaries, up to six weeks’ annual leave, and an ongoing programme of clinic refurbishments, it’s no surprise that the group continues to grow, expanding by three new practices in the past eighteen months alone.

The Role – Join a Growing, Modern Practice in a Fantastic Location

The position is based in a recently opened, beautifully designed practice in the Amersham area. Set within the picturesque Chiltern Hills, it offers the best of both worlds: peaceful countryside surroundings with quick, easy transport links into London via the Metropolitan Line.

The practice has grown rapidly, over 50% year on year, and is fully equipped with everything expected of a modern first-opinion clinic, including digital radiography, ultrasonography, an Idexx integrated laboratory, and dedicated surgical facilities used by both the in-house team and visiting ophthalmology, soft-tissue, and orthopaedic surgeons.

They are seeking a dynamic and confident Veterinary Surgeon who can help support and drive the next stage of the practice’s growth. While the role begins as sole charge, you’ll be backed by a highly collaborative network of more than 25 vets and 100 staff across the group. Teamwork is a genuine cornerstone of their culture, you’ll never feel isolated, and clinical support is always available.

What Makes This Role Stand Out:

True work–life balance: No on-call, no Sundays, and no bank holidays. Flexibility built around you: Full-time is a 4-day week with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings, but part-time options are readily available. Independent ethos: Your voice matters, your ideas are welcomed, and clinical autonomy is respected. A workplace that feels good: Supportive colleagues, modern surroundings, and a culture based on mutual respect. A location with lifestyle options: Countryside walks, cosy villages, and London only a short train ride away.

The Package:

-Salary £50,000–£80,000 FTE, depending on experience and preferred working hours
-Up to six weeks’ annual leave
-Loyalty bonus scheme
-Generous CPD budget with strong encouragement to develop further
-RCVS and VDS fees fully covered
-Staff animals treated at cost
-25–35% store discount
