Are you a Veterinary Surgeon coming to the end of your second year in practice?  Corporate Graduate Programme ending and you're wondering what else is out there?

How about an independent practice that offers:

  • The freedom to deliver gold-standard community pet care every dayIf you've become frustrated by protocols or you feel restricted in your clinical choices, then this could be the practice for you.

  • A closed client list so you can get to know each and every patient

  • A leadership team who don’t believe in hierarchy and targets

  • A collaborative approach to cases, so everyone gets to learn

You'll fit right in if:

  • You love asking questions and answering them in return

  • You are passionate about general practice and believe in the difference that first-opinion work can make.

  • You don’t take yourself too seriously and have a sense of humour

  • You're honest, compassionate and accepting. If you make a mistake, own it and the team will have your back. You'll do the same for them.

  • You're keen to share case outcomes and discussions with your team

  • Your happiest days at work are those when you know you've been able to do your best

A bit about your new team:

  • There is strong surgical and medical knowledge across the practice team, so very little needs to be referred.

  • For orthopaedic, neurology or ophthalmology, they have close relationships with local referral centres they work in partnership with. You can be confident therefore, that your patients are going to receive the best care.

  • The nursing team is exceptional. All the Registered Veterinary Nurses here are very experienced. They're organised and knowledgeable. Everything you could wish for.

  • Giles and Charlotte have got your back.

And your new role:

  • Current rota can be run over 4 days, with one full ops day a week.

  • Consults are run in two blocks each day, with a few hours in the middle of the day for case work ups, notes, calls etc.

  • Final appointments are at 5pm, so you have time to finish up before leaving on time.

  • The practice are immensely proud of running their own OOH service. This is currently one night a week and 1:5 weekends on call. Vets are always on with an RVN. It's not a busy service, but there is always time off after a weekend and rota flexibility if needed.

  • In terms of kit, there's everything you would expect in first opinion (ultrasound, dental xray, in-house lab).

  • There are separate cat and dog wards, with additional space for large dogs or patients requiring isolation. Theatre is complemented by three consult rooms. There is a calm space at the back of the practice for those clients that need it.

  • Refurbishment plans are underway, with increased kennelling space (this includes staff dogs!).

What's on offer:

  • £40,000 for 2 years' qualified, increasing with experience

  • RCVS and BVA/BSAVA paid

  • Discounted pet care

  • CPD allowance to suit individual needs

You must be eligible to register with the RCVS as a Veterinary Surgeon to be considered for this position.
