Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Dorset

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join the welcoming and supportive team at a well-established veterinary group in beautiful Dorset. This role offers a friendly environment and a thriving client base in one of the most picturesque regions of the UK.

The Role:

The position is offered full-time over four days, but flexible working requests, including child-friendly hours, are warmly welcomed. The practice recognises that work-life balance is key and is committed to tailoring the role to suit each individual’s needs and ambitions. Saturday mornings are shared on a 1 in 4 rota, and there are no out-of-hours requirements thanks to collaboration with VetsNow. The role combines some sole charge work at a smaller branch with the support and camaraderie of a larger team. With guidance from Advanced Practitioners and approachable leaders, this is an environment where collaboration and learning are genuinely encouraged.

About the Practice:
This five-branch, RCVS-accredited group takes pride in its close-knit, collaborative culture, with opportunities to come together socially and professionally across the wider team. Each branch boasts a fun, dedicated team of vets, nurses, and client care professionals, all passionate about providing outstanding care to patients and building strong relationships with clients.

The group is committed to progressive veterinary medicine while also ensuring that every team member has the flexibility and support to pursue their own clinical interests and career goals. Regular social activities, including their much-loved spring party, add to the sense of community and belonging.

What the Team Say:
Colleagues describe the practice as a place where clinical freedom is supported, growth is encouraged, and work-life balance is a priority. Many have been part of the team for over a decade, with vets developing certificates and specialisms within a supportive environment. The culture is one of respect, collaboration, and long-term commitment.

Living in Dorset:
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Dorset coastline and countryside, the role offers an enviable lifestyle outside of work. From sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs to the New Forest and historic landmarks like Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral, the area provides something for everyone. Excellent transport links mean that London and Southampton are easily accessible for day trips, while the local towns offer plenty of cultural and leisure opportunities.

Benefits:

Competitive salary, dependent on experience, 6.6 weeks’ holiday, including bank holidays, £1,750 CPD allowance per annum with CPD/training support, RCVS, VDS and two other memberships paid, Enhanced parental leave policies, Health Plan contributions for health and wellbeing treatments, Discounted veterinary fees, Cycle to Work scheme, shopping, travel and leisure discounts, Company sick pay.

Visa Sponsorship available

This is a chance to join a progressive practice that is excited to grow and support its team in finding their niche.
