Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – No OOH | Cornwall

Make your career mean more in one of the UK’s most beautiful locations.

Looking for a veterinary role that combines clinical variety with work-life balance in a coastal haven? Look no further. This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving and friendly team at a respected, long-standing practice in Cornwall – and yes, there’s no OOH.

The Opportunity

This is an RCVS-accredited mixed practice with a rich history dating back to the 1870s. The team has grown and evolved over the decades, always keeping patient care and team wellbeing at the forefront. Now, there’s an exciting opening for a full-time Small Animal Vet to join the expanding and supportive team.

What makes this role stand out? You’ll enjoy a 4-day working week, giving you more time to enjoy life outside of work. With just a 1:4 Saturday morning rota and absolutely no out-of-hours, it’s an ideal setup for a balanced and rewarding lifestyle.

A Role with Variety and Meaning

In addition to the diverse caseload you’d expect from a busy small animal practice, this team also provides veterinary care for the nearby Cornish Seal Sanctuary – making this a great fit for anyone with an interest in wildlife or marine species.

The practice places strong emphasis on professional growth. Whether you're working toward a certificate or exploring a particular clinical passion, you'll be well supported with a generous CPD budget and an encouraging culture of learning and progression.

A Place You’ll Want to Stay

Equipped with modern facilities and great resources, this is a place where you can do your best work. But beyond the clinical side, what truly sets this team apart is the strong sense of camaraderie. With 4 vets, 4 RVNs, and 2 SVNs, the team strikes a perfect balance of professionalism and personality.

From walking the Cornish coastline to baking, crafting, or just enjoying a good cup of coffee together, the atmosphere is one of friendship and support. It’s a workplace where people genuinely look forward to coming in each day.

Cornwall Living at Its Finest

Set in one of the most stunning regions of the UK, this location offers unbeatable access to natural beauty. Whether it’s seaside walks at Porthleven Harbour, peaceful afternoons at Loe Pool, or exploring hidden gems like Bonython Estate Gardens and Halliggye Fougou, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The practice is easily accessible via the A394 and well served by public transport, making commuting straightforward – though we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to relocate permanently.

Rewarding You

This role comes with a competitive salary of £40,000–£60,000, depending on experience and skills, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

6.6 weeks paid holiday, including bank holidays

£1,750 CPD allowance per annum

RCVS and two additional professional memberships covered
